Practice Recovery is the mental health project of a new social enterprise dedicated to human freedom and liberation. We are a psychiatric survivor-led training and consulting initiative inspired by new visions of madness and mental diversity.
Directed by CEO Krista Mackinnon and Co-founded by Will Hall, Practice Recovery partners with mental health innovators to create effective, transformational online training based in the values of anti-oppression and self-determination.
The first project of Practice Recovery has been a successful unique partnership with family advocates and mental health professionals called Families Healing Together offering a series of online courses in family recovery education and support.
This year we will be launching an online training in harm reduction and mutual support for psychiatric drug withdrawal. This pro-treatment choice training is based in the internationally recognized “Harm Reduction Guide to Coming Off Psychiatric Drugs,” written by Will Hall.
The Guide is widely used in the mental health recovery movement, has been translated into Spanish, Greek, German, French, Japanese, and Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian, and was featured in the Journal of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing. Will is partnering with a medical advisor for the course, which is suitable for peers, professionals, family members, helpers, prescribers, holistic health practitioners, and people taking medications.
In 2014 and beyond Practice Recovery invites new partnerships with organizations and individuals interested in online skills development for mental health recovery, personal growth, yoga and spirituality, creativity, and wellness.
